Scripture of the Week by JoBeth Kested

Scripture for the week of October 26, 2014

JoBeth-10 The Lord will always lead you. He will meet the needs of your soul in the dry times and give strength to your body. You will be like a garden that has enough water, like a well of water that never dries up. Isaiah 58:11 (NLV)

Have you ever felt lost in a dry desolate place, overwhelmed with weariness and no idea of the way to go? Be encouraged by this promise that the Lord is always with us to mercifully show us the way even when we find ourselves lost and desperate through foolish choices or no faults of our own. As Jehovah-Jireh, our provider, God fills all the needs of our longing souls (mind, will and emotions) as well as restoring strength to our bodies when it looks like there is no provision for us in any direction. So call upon the Lord in your day of trouble and He will deliver you (Psalms 50:15), restore you like a well watered garden and fill you with His living water that never runs dry. Oh, hallelujah!

Scripture for the week of October 19, 2014

JoBeth-09As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. Psalm 18:30-32 (NKJV)

Are you frustrated with your imperfections, disappointed in the imperfect people in your life, or weary of this imperfect world? What a huge comfort to discover the realization that the ways of our God are perfect and to know with assurance that His Word has proven to be perfect, too. He is the protector and defender of all who put their trust in Him. He alone is the Almighty God above all gods and majestic Lord above all lords. There is nothing in this world more sure, more solid and more dependable than our God, The Rock. Our loving, compassionate and merciful God lifts us out of our pity puddles of discouragement, renews our strength and even makes our crooked rough roads into perfect paths of peace. Thank You, Lord!

Scripture for the week of October 12, 2014

JoBeth-08 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Do you find it difficult to trust others because of past betrayal, rejection or abandonment? You may remember a time as a child when your Dad encouraged you to leap and to trust that he would catch you or of being blindfolded and having to trust someone to lead you and not let you stumble or fall. We are encouraged in this scripture to trust the Lord with ALL our heart even when others have failed us and we can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. We don’t have to struggle and strive to figure it all out when we don’t know what to do. God in all his loving, compassionate, goodness and grace is always there to heal our hearts, to catch us and to guide us when our hopes have crumbled and we can’t see the way ahead. His mercy is new every morning and His love never fails.

The Feast Days

AbstainfromEvil

What God requires of us is an undefiled, repentant heart. A heart that can only be cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ His Son, His plan for  Atonement. A heart that does not run toward evil – but in fact abstains from even the appearance of evil 1 Thessalonians 5:22.  This means that if it looks evil – then it is evil. Personally my heart beats for Him and I choose His feast days – His High Holy Days – because obviously as written in the Bible – they are very important to Him. When you truly Love someone – you want to know and do what is really important to them. Have you ever stopped and sincerely asked God – the Creator of the Universe what is important to You God? He will tell you.. He loves talking to us and is never ever put off by our asking questions.

In fact – if we all asked Him more questions – we would all probably not get into so many difficult situations.

You may never put these two things together – but come next September – if you’ve had a pretty rough year – look back at your last September –  October. What did you celebrate?  God did give us free will – and we are all free agents and can choose for ourselves. Run to God, abstain from evil, Blessing is so much better. Look at this world – the condition of it, take a moment and as God to see from His perspective. He will show you.  It will change you forever too.

Please this October – lay down what you think is fun and embrace what is important to Him.

It’s a time of repentance, a time to draw near to The LORD. A Time when He decides what your year is going to be. Only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ – His sacrifice – He came to Tabernacle among the human race – Only if we repent will He heal our land. To Repent means to turn from your sin – go and sin no more.  Only if we lay down our evil for His good..

Who do you serve? God or the devil? Because if you partake of evil – you get evil. This is a day to choose – and if you don’t know why – Ask God- He will reveal all truth to you – only if you ask. He has a well lit path for you – only if you will step on to it. He has Blessing for you – only if you choose HIM.

God has a plan for your life and it is a Good, Wonderful, Blessed plan. He truly loves you and He is waiting for you.

Scripture for the week of October 5, 2014

JoBeth-07But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

Have you ever felt like a misfit, too different or unacceptable amongst your friends, at work or in your family? What an encouragement to find in this scripture what God has to say about you. You are a chosen one! You are a part of the elite inner circle with access to God; a Holy nation! And, you are part of a distinctive people that have accepted God’s invitation to come out of the dark painful, depressing and hopeless places into the marvelous light of His love! So lift your heart, your hands and your voice to praise the Lord because you are a chosen, special one with the opportunity to display His goodness and glory to all those around you in this world! Thank You, Lord!
