Scripture for the week of January 9, 2022

But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord. Jeremiah 9:24 (NKJV)

We often begin a new year evaluating our accomplishments and/or the disappointments of the previous year. With good intentions we try setting new resolutions with plans to do better and be better in the days ahead; with the hope seeing goals accomplished and patting ourselves on the back at the end of this year. Maybe it would be better to focus our energy and efforts on the things that glorify God more than focusing primarily on ourselves. Let’s choose to embrace the promise of this scripture, to seek the Lord, to increase our understanding and knowledge of God; His Word and His ways. We can expect to experience and to then extend His lovingkindness, justice and goodness to those in the world around us. What a joyous anticipation to know the blessing of God’s delight in the pursuit of knowing and experiencing Him more in this new year. Amen!
