Living in the Truth of God’s Word by Beth Auman

John 8:31-32 is one of my favorite life verses. Jesus said these words out of His own mouth. The “If ” and “Then” clause is within this verse, which means that you have a part and He has a part. IF you will do your part by continuing in and applying His Word; THEN, you will receive His counsel, power, knowledge and the fear of the Lord, making wisdom, truth, and revelation a part of your normal everyday life. Allow the fear of the Lord to embrace you; placing a guard over your heart so that you will not step out of the safe boundaries that He reveals to you; then and then only will the truth make you free. Otherwise, no freedom comes when you continue on your own path and continue going your own way of understanding, thinking that you know what is best. You will miss the path of life and secure boundaries God has to prepared for you to walk in. That is where true freedom is found. That is where real protection resides. That is where His Perfect Shalom is and where you can joyfully dwell within His Perfect Shalom.

The Truth Will Make You Free

So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31-32 (NASB)

I have a question for your consideration. If you have received God’s truth, wisdom and revelation from the Word of God, what have you done with it? Are you free? How is His Word making a difference in your life?

Jesus said, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”  (John 8:32) As we walk with Him, we have new opportunities to be transformed by His Word in unfolding revelation of His wisdom, counsel, power, might, knowledge and fear of the Lord that guards our path. It is a 24 hour a day, life changing process available to us always as we learn to live within the boundary that He is creating for us though His wisdom and revelation.

Righteous Reign of the Branch

Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:1-2 (NASB)

This is an unfolding second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day process as we receive and continue in His wisdom and revelation. Receiving His Word in our heart and remaining within the boundary of the Word that He has revealed to us, then we are made free. Then and only then, can we receive more wisdom and revelation that broadens new boundaries that His Word secures within us to walk in until we receive another level of wisdom and revelation with understanding to walk in.

Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!” And God granted him what he requested.  1 Chronicles 4:10 (NASB)

None of us will ever know everything. We all operate within the unfolding boundaries of revelation of truth revealed to us by the Lord. He will show each of us what we need and when we need it; when we cry out for and seek His wisdom. But, the test is in what you do with the truth that you have received. We are called to walk in the revelation and truth that we have received and never turn back. The Bible says that a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. You cannot ask Him for wisdom and revelation truth and then not choose to live within the boundaries of the truth that He has revealed. There is NO freedom there.

You enlarge my steps under me, And my feet have not slipped. Psalm 18:36 (NASB)

I’ll share my own life example of this; a very practical, personal example.  I have stated that this is one of my own life verses. I truly learned to live in the fear of the Lord and in the peace and joy of His revealed truth in my life and I’m so thankful that I do. I praise Him and give Him all Glory! Every Word in the Bible points us to Jesus. I have been redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb, out of the hand of the enemy. I have Passed Over. Jesus is the Lamb that was slain. I have received the Truth and have embraced the Hebraic Roots of my faith. The bread and the cup; communion with Jesus. He is the Passover Lamb. I commune with Him and desire to live within His boundary for my life. I will Never go backwards. I have received the Truth and I cry out for His wisdom and revelation every day. I am walking within the boundaries of the Word that He has revealed to me that has become my personal revelation and truth.

You must walk within the revelation and truth that He reveals to you. If you feel stuck or cannot move forward, then ask the Lord what wisdom and revelation that you have missed and did not allow Him to establish the boundary in your life? What was the last Truth that Jesus gave you? Did you walk it out? Are you living within the boundary or did you go back to your own knowledge and understanding; to what is fun to you, what you want to do? He will show you. You can repent and you can walk forward. If you are willing to receive the truth and be free then He will show you the exact place that you need to pick back up where you lost your path.

  But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.  For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8 (NASB)

Personal Prayer:  Abba, we come before You today. Please open the eyes of our understanding and show us the hope of Your calling. We ask You today, if there is any area that You have revealed Your Truth to us that we did not continue in. Please reveal this place so that we can repent. We choose to continue in Your truth and be free 24 hours a day every day. We call upon You today, that You will bless us indeed and enlarge our border, that Your hand might be with us and that You will keep us from harm that it may not pain us. Lord we choose to continue in Your Word and to walk in Your way of life for us. In Jesus name. Amen.

The Usefulness of Proverbs

The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:

To know wisdom and instruction, To discern the sayings of understanding,

To receive instruction in wise behavior, Righteousness, justice and equity;

To give prudence to the naive,
To the youth knowledge and discretion,

A wise man will hear and increase in learning,

And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,

To understand a proverb and a figure,

The words of the wise and their riddles.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;

Fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:1-7 (NASB)
