Scripture of the Week by JoBeth Kested

Scripture for the week of August 4, 2019

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:20-24 (ESV)

Do you ever struggle to find your faith to trust God in the midst of overwhelming problems; especially when you feel like His lack of help is a big part of the problem? The scriptures before these verses, by the Prophet Jeremiah, describe in great detail his sufferings and that he feels like God caused it all. He is not afraid to talk to God about his hurts and difficulties. Then he reminds himself of God’s love, mercies and faithfulness. How amazing that even though the circumstances have not changed, Jeremiah is able to declare with renewed hope that the Lord is all he needs. Take your list of problems to God today and may you be encouraged with new hope remembering The Lord’s unshakeable love, unending mercies and great faithfulness to you always!
