Scripture of the Week by JoBeth Kested

Scripture for the week of August 23, 2020

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You! Psalm 84:11-12 (NKJV)

Have you ever felt like there is a paralyzing dark cloud of heaviness hanging over you? This scripture declares that God is our sunshine that dispels the darkness and our shield for protection when we feel helpless. He also gives us His sufficient grace (2 Cor. 12:9) with unmerited favor and His glory to honor us when we choose to walk uprightly, clinging close to Him. But, what does it mean to walk uprightly? It means we have learned to not trust in our own strength, money, power or positions; but, that we bring our sorrows, fears, insecurities and failures to Him as we daily walk the unseen path before us. Our God is the Commander of the Angel Armies of Heaven and He is the Lord God Almighty that is all powerful to protect and bestow great blessings upon us as we choose to put all our trust in Him each and every day. Selah, ponder and fix your mind on that!
