Scripture of the Week by JoBeth Kested

Scripture for the week of May 21, 2017

The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of the godly. The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things! Psalm 118:14-15 (NLT)

Are you one of those people that can’t carry a tune and prefer to sing in the shower where no one else can hear? Sometimes we just need to make a joyful noise to the Lord anyway because He is worthy to be praised. This Psalm was most likely written by King David, who was known as a mighty warrior of Israel accomplishing many great exploits in the name of the the Lord. He humbly declares in these verses that it is the Lord’s strength that has given him the victory and the reason to worship and sing His praise. Songs of joy and victory are also sung by those who believe when they gather together celebrating the strength of the Lord, Who accomplishes awesome things. Let us also sing the songs of rejoicing and triumph because of the mighty things the Lord has done and continues to do in our lives as we daily trust in Him. Praise the Lord!
