Scripture of the Week by JoBeth Kested

Scripture for the week of August 20, 2017

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:31-33 (NKJV)

Do you ever get caught in the every day worries of home repairs, increasing grocery costs, what to wear on that special occasion or other emergency demands? We are exhorted in these verses to not worry about any of these things and reminded that our Daddy God knows and cares about all our needs. Verse 26 in the same chapter states: “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” How easy it is to struggle and strive trying figure it all out or to fix everything ourselves and forgetting how precious we are to our miraculous and loving God. So, be encouraged to turn your focus from your worries to seek first the blessings of God’s righteousness and goodness upon your life with the assurance that He is more than able to “supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:19). Thank You, Lord!
