Scripture Of The Week by JoBeth Kested

Scripture for the week of June 8, 2025
By JoBeth Kested

But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. Psalm 3:3-5 (NKJV)

Have you ever felt like you need a protector and defender or someone to help hold your head up when troubles just seem too much? And have you ever cried out for help when no one was there and you couldn’t even sleep to escape the hopelessness? The Lord makes several wonderful promises to us in these verses; declaring His compassionate care for us when we are distraught, frail and feel abandoned. 1) He is our shield, protector and defender. 2) He is our glory; bestowing His goodness, praise and honor upon us. 3) He lifts up our head and restores our hope. 4) He hears our prayers and cries for help! 5) He grants us sleep and rest in our weariness. 6) He sustains us and provides all our needs. Rest in the assurance today and everyday that He will hear your voice and answer you from His holy hill because of His great love for you. Selah!

Scripture for the week of May 4, 2025
By JoBeth Kested

I will stand at my guard post. I will station myself on the wall. I will watch to see what He will say to me and what answer I will get to my complaint. Habakkuk 2:1 (GW)

Have you ever had to wait longingly for an important letter or phone call that would free you from the anxiety of something unknown or for hopes fulfilled? How agonizing the waiting process can be; demanding all of our attention and hindering our ability to focus on anything else! What if we turned that same waiting expectation and anticipation toward hearing God’s voice? It is interesting that this scripture instructs us to watch and wait with the assurance that God will answer our complaints or questions. Or with the Lord’s gentle reproving correction from some others translations. We are encouraged to take our place like a disciplined soldier standing guard upon the fortress high place and to watch with confident expectation that our loving God will surely answer all our doubts, fears, questions and complaints. Lord, help us to wait on You. Give us eyes to see your ways and ears to hear your voice. Yes, amen.

“I have set the LORD continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalms 16:8,11 (NASB)

Have you ever wondered how to have joy through any circumstance? Biblically joy goes beyond emotional happiness which is dependent on whatever makes us feel good and it is temporary. Joy is primarily a choice and is dependent upon trusting in the sovereign goodness of God, even when we don’t feel it, and knowing that He is Who He says He is as revealed to us in His Word. When this scripture mentions God’s place at the Psalmists right hand that implies giving Him the highest place of honor and absolute power in our lives. We learn in this scripture that when we choose to abide in His presence we can know the security of safety, overflowing joy and everlasting pleasure. HIs right hand holds all power and all authority in heaven and on earth to defend and provide for us. Lord, please go before us revealing the path of abundant life in Your presence and the fullness of joy we all long for. Amen.

Scripture for the week of November 10, 2024
By JoBeth Kested

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Have you ever struggled to find enough faith to guide you in the midst of gripping fearful circumstances? In such times, it is important to remember that submitting to fear instead of believing in faith is a choice. Let’s take a look at this scripture with the word fear in place of the word faith and see how it would read. “Now fear is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” How much easier it is to see the foolishness of wasting our time and energy by wallowing in the quicksand of fear that anticipates and expects things we can’t even see yet and have no power to change. We can choose to have faith in our all powerful Heavenly Father that creates worlds out of nothing, is able to move mountains, make rivers in the desert, and brings resurrection life from the dead! Instead of yielding to fear, let’s put our faith in Almighty God that can create things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Yes, Lord!

Desist and Know

(1) God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
(2) Therefore we are unafraid,
even if the earth gives way,
even if the mountains tumble
into the depths of the sea,
(3) even if its waters rage and foam,
and mountains shake at its turbulence. (Selah)

(4) There is a river whose streams
gladden the city of God,
the holy habitation of ‘Elyon —
(5) God is in the city.
It will not be moved —
when daybreak comes, God will help it.
(6) Nations were in turmoil,
kingdoms were moved;
his voice thundered forth,
and the earth melted away.

(7) Adonai-Tzva’ot is with us,
our fortress, the God of Ya‘akov. (Selah)
(8) Come and see the works of Adonai,
the astounding deeds he has done on the earth.
10 (9) To the ends of the earth he makes wars cease —
he breaks the bow, snaps the spear,
burns the shields in the fire.
11 (10) “Desist, and learn that I am God, supreme over the nations, supreme over the earth.”

12 (11) Adonai-Tzva’ot is with us,
our fortress, the God of Ya‘akov. (Selah)

Today is a day of decision. Whose report will you believe? Adonai’s or the devils. It is as simple as that.

YHWH said in Exodus 20:13 CJB  13 “Do not murder.

Yeshua said it very plainly in John 10:10 CJB 10 The thief comes only in order to steal, kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, life in its fullest measure.

Abba, remove the veil of lies that cover the eyes of all that cannot see this in Yeshua’s Name

May they repent, desist and run into Your strong and loving arms today in Yeshua’s Name Amen

Scripture for the week of September 22, 2024
By JoBeth Kested

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 (NIV)

Have you ever tried to find your way in the dark without a light? In Genesis chapter one God said, “Let there be light” and He created light out of the darkness. Our verse for this week declares that God is also able to make His light shine into the darkness of our hearts. If light travels at the speed of 186,000 miles a second, then we know that darkness has to flee that fast from every ray of light; especially in the light of His presence. His glory is the perfection, beauty and power of His extravagant love we can each find in our personal relationship with Jesus face to face. Jesus proclaimed in John 8:12 “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (NIV) Let the light of Jesus’ love for you shine into any encroaching darkness and through you as you follow Him. Yes, amen!

Scripture for the week of September 1, 2024

“There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides across the heavens to help you and on the clouds in his majesty. The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, ‘Destroy them!’ Deuteronomy 33:26-27 (NIV)

Have you ever felt the heavy weight of discouragement in trying to stand in the battles for what is righteous, honorable and true? The word Jeshurun in this verse is often used instead of the name Israel, God’s chosen people, and also implies one who is straight, upright and just. Therefore, this scripture exhorts us that the God of those who stand upright and straight for justice, His chosen ones, He will ride the winds of the clouds across the heavens in all of His majestic power to come to your help. He declares that He is your secure refuge and that He upholds you close to His heart in the everlasting strength of His arms; defending you in battle and promising to destroy your enemies! Be encouraged, for truly, there is no one like our God!

Psalm 27 TLV
Let Your Heart Take Courage
Psalm 27
Of David.
Adonai is my light and my salvation: whom should I fear?
Adonai is the stronghold of my life: whom should I dread?
When evildoers approached me to devour my flesh—my adversaries and my foes—they stumbled and fell.
Though an army camp besieges me, my heart will not fear.  Though war breaks out against me, even then will I be confident.
One thing have I asked of Adonai, that will I seek: to dwell in the House of Adonai
all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Adonai;  and to meditate in His Temple.
For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His sukkah, conceal me in the shelter of His tent, and set me high upon a rock.
Then will my head be high above my enemies around me. In His Tabernacle I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy. I will sing, yes, sing praises to Adonai.
Hear, Adonai, when I call with my voice, be gracious to me and answer me.
To You my heart says: “Seek My face.” Your face, Adonai, I seek.
Do not hide Your face from me. Do not turn Your servant away in anger.
You have been my help. Do not abandon me or forsake me, O God my salvation.
10 Though my father and my mother forsake me, Adonai will take me in.
11 Teach me Your way, Adonai, and lead me on a level path—because of my enemies.
12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes. For false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence.
13 Surely I trust that I will see the goodness of Adonai in the land of the living.
14 Wait for Adonai. Be strong, let Your heart take courage, and wait for Adonai.
