Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever. To him who alone does great wonders, His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1-4 (NIV)

What would you answer if asked what is your greatest need or desire? Most would acknowledge the deepest longingly our hearts is to be loved. We all long for and cherish the loving relationships of family and friends. We are encouraged in these scriptures to give thanks to The Lord, God of gods, and Lord of lords because His love endures forever. In this Psalm, there are twenty-six declarations that His love endures forever after verses extolling the majesty of God’s creation, His awesome wonders, His mighty power and extravagant mercy. During this season of Thanksgiving we often remember and share the many things we have to be thankful for. It is also good to be reminded how blessed we are and to give thanks that The Lord God Almighty is good, He does great wonders and His steadfast love for us endures forever!

Noah Exited The Ark Today and Sacrificed

Today in History – Cheshvan 27 (Nov. 17)

Genesis 8:6-22 Tree of Life Version
6 It was at the end of forty days that Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made. 7 Then he sent out a raven and it kept going back and forth until the waters were drying up from the land. 8 Then he sent out a dove to see whether the waters had receded from the surface of the ground. 9 But the dove did not find a resting place for the sole of her foot. She returned to him in the ark because water covered the surface of the whole land. He stretched out his hand and he took her, and brought her to him into the ark. 10 So he waited yet another seven days and again he sent the dove out from the ark. 11 The dove came to him at evening, and surprisingly—a freshly plucked olive leaf was in its mouth. So Noah knew that the waters had receded from the land. 12 After he waited seven more days, he sent out the dove, but she did not return to him again.

13 It was in his six-hundred-and first year—in the first month, on the first day of the month—that the waters had dried up from the land. Then Noah removed the cover of the ark and he looked, and behold, the surface of the ground had dried up. 14 By the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the land was dry.

Noah’s Soothing Sacrifice

15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying, 16 “Come out of the ark, you and your wife, your sons and your sons’ wives with you. 17 Every animal that is with you of all flesh, including the flying creatures, livestock and every crawling creature that crawls on the land, bring out with you, and let them swarm in the land and be fruitful and multiply upon the land.”

18 So Noah came out, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives. 19 Every animal—every crawling creature, every flying creature, everything that crawls upon the land—came out from the ark in their families.

20 Then Noah built an altar to Adonai and he took of every clean domestic animal and of every clean flying creature and he offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 When Adonai smelled the soothing aroma, Adonai said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, even though the inclination of the heart of humankind is evil from youth. Nor will I ever again smite all living creatures, as I have done.

22 While all the days of the land remain,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night will not cease.”

Scripture Of The Week By JoBeth Kested

Scripture for the week of November 16, 2014

By JoBeth Kested

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord… Jeremiah 29:11-14a (NKJV)

Have you ever felt like you messed up so badly that you are beyond forgiveness and undeserving of God’s love? Have you lost all hope and feel like you will never qualify for the goodness of God? Sometimes it can feel like God is playing Hide and Seek and nowhere to be found. But, these verses assure us that God really does hear our prayers when we cry out to Him and that He longs to reveal Himself and His good plans for us. Though it may be hard to fathom, the truth is, God harbors no thoughts of evil against us and is always thinking of how to show us His plans for our future with peace and hope. Be encouraged in this promise to you today that you will find the Lord when you pray and seek Him with all your heart.

Scripture of the week of November 9, 2025 By JoBeth Kested

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; Psalm 23:1-3a

Have you ever longed for peace, comfort and rest for your soul? Our souls involve our mind, will and emotions where we feel the longing or afflictions of doubt, fear, sorrows and confusion that rob us of peace. We are likened to helpless fearful sheep in these scriptures and what a comfort to know that the Lord is our Good Shepherd caring for all our needs, lacking nothing. We may not be quite as excited to realize that He will sometimes make us to lie down and most of us don’t like the idea of anyone making us do anything! Yet, we would gladly welcome the comfort, peace and restored hope we all long for in our souls if we could find it. Dear Lord, direct our steps to a still quiet place in Your presence; free from pressures, anxiety and disappointments to find the comforting rest for our souls that You have provided for us. Amen.

Cheshvan 17 — The Importance of God’s Holy Calendar

About the Series — Covenant Reflections

Each day on God’s Holy Calendar carries meaning and purpose, revealing His rhythm of redemption and His unchanging covenant with His people. Covenant Reflections invites you to pause, remember, and realign your heart with the heart of Adonai—walking in the light of His Word, through the grace of Yeshua our Messiah. May each reflection draw you deeper into His peace, His promises, and His presence.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 118:24

“This is the day that Adonai has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Devotional Reflection

Today, according to God’s Holy Calendar, is Cheshvan 17—the very day when Noah closed the door of the ark, and the rains began to fall. It was the day that Adonai acted in righteousness, bringing judgment upon the earth and preserving the one who walked in covenant with Him.

This sacred day reminds us that God’s appointed times are not merely ancient markers of history—they are living signposts of His unchanging nature. His calendar reveals His rhythm, His mercy, and His justice. On Cheshvan 17, the world felt the weight of disobedience, but Noah experienced the safety of obedience and faith.

Today, we are invited to examine our hearts before Adonai. Just as Noah entered the ark at God’s command, we too are called to enter into the covering of Yeshua, our Ark of Salvation. Through His shed blood, forgiveness flows freely, washing away the stains of sin and restoring our peace with the Father.

Be watchful, beloved. The same God who shut Noah in the ark still calls His children to trust and obey—to walk in covenant, not compromise.

Reflection Question

Am I walking faithfully in covenant with Adonai, fully trusting in the protection and redemption of Yeshua, my Ark of Salvation?

Prayer

Abba, thank You for the wisdom of Your Holy Calendar and the reminders it brings of Your faithfulness through every generation. Teach me to walk in obedience and humility before You. Thank You for the covering of Yeshua’s blood that seals me in Your covenant of love and protection. May my heart stay watchful, my spirit steadfast, and my life a reflection of Your mercy.

In the holy name of Yeshua, my Redeemer and King, Amen.

Yeshua Is The Vine

DEVOTIONAL

Abiding in the Vine

Remaining in Yeshua to bear lasting fruit

Scripture Reading

John 15:5 (TLV)

“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for apart from Me, you can do nothing.”

Devotional Reflection

To abide is to remain—quietly, consistently, faithfully. Yeshua invites us not into a sprint of striving but into a steady sharing of His life. The branch doesn’t manufacture fruit; it receives life and bears what the Vine supplies.

When we drift into self-reliance, the soul grows thin. But in His presence, strength returns. His Word cleanses our thoughts; His Spirit renews our affections; His love steadies our steps.

Abiding looks like small obediences—opening the Scriptures, whispering prayer, obeying a nudge to serve, choosing forgiveness again. Over time, these quiet “yeses” become the trellis where love, joy, and peace grow.

Today, return again to the Vine. Rest your effort in His sufficiency. Let the life of Yeshua flow through you—bearing fruit that remains.

Reflection Question

Where do you sense the Spirit inviting you to abide more deeply—in Scripture, in prayer, in obedience, or in surrender?

Prayer

Abba Father, draw my heart to abide in Your Son. Prune what hinders love, and fill me with the life of Yeshua. Teach me to remain in Your Word and to obey with joy, that I might bear fruit that glorifies You. In Yeshua’s name, Amen.

Scripture Of The Week By JoBeth Kested

Scripture for the week of September 21, 2025
By JoBeth Kested

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:2-5 (NKJV)

When considering a new job or opportunity, don’t we carefully evaluate the benefits before making our decision? And, when a job gets difficult or frustrating we often remind ourselves of the benefits in order to hang in there. Like the Psalmist in these verses, we may need to be reminded of the significant benefits that are ours when we choose to follow the Lord. By applying these truths to ourselves individually, we can declare: He forgives MY iniquities (wrong tendencies and actions)! He heals MY diseases! He redeems MY life from destruction! He crowns ME with love and mercy! He satisfies ME with goodness! And He renews MY youth like the eagles! Be blessed in your soul today and forget not all His benefits for you. Praise the Lord!

I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 (HCSB)

Have you ever been awed and captivated by the majestic beauty of the mountains? Some of us welcome the challenges of hiking and climbing mountains for the thrill of enjoying the breathtaking scenic beauty, the fresh smell of pine trees, and the enrapturing views from lofty peaks. But, sometimes we may face the treacherous slopes of life’s daunting dilemmas and mountains of difficulties that can seem impossible to overcome. We need to be reminded that no matter how insurmountable our problems may be, the Lord is with us, He hears our cries and is able to lift us up higher than we ever thought we could climb on our own. Trust the Lord today to see your mountain of impossibilities as a mountain of opportunity to be overcome in the power of His might. Look up and hold out your hand to The Lord God Almighty, Who is already reaching out to you. Praise the Lord!

Scripture Of The Week By JoBeth Kested

Scripture for the week of August 31, 2025
By JoBeth Kested

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Psalm 46:10-11 (NKJV)

Have you ever enjoyed a summer night of frogs croaking, crickets creaking and fireflies flitting? Or have you ever taken the time to look for pictures in the clouds or watched for falling stars in a dark night sky? Isn’t it interesting how much we can see and hear if we will take the time to be still. In stillness we may also have to face our encroaching fears, our emptiness or our feelings of being so alone. In this scripture God instructs us to be still in order to know that He is God. As our Heavenly Father, He so desires for us to cease from our struggles and striving to find the comfort, peace and rest we so long for in the stillness of His presence. Whatever we may be facing in the uncertainties and upheavals of this world our God declares in this scripture that He will be exalted above all else in the earth. The Lord of Hosts is with us and is our refuge. Selah—ponder and think of that!
